Are you planning on coming to any of our DiscoverGranada excursions and coming from Granada? If you are coming from any other nearby city, please let us know via email: info@discovergranada and we will assist you in getting to Sevilla. There are two options:

• If enough people come from Granada, we offer our own bus.  So please, before you purchase your bus ticket to Sevilla, please email us or call us and find out if there will be a bus from Granada. Tell your friends about the trips so that you don´t have to worry about anything more than showing up on time.

• In the case that we do not have enough people to offer our own bus, you will have to secure your own transportation. Below you will find the information of the time table for the buses and trains that go to/from Sevilla & Granada!

Booking Your Own Transportation

The easiest way to get from Granada to Sevilla is by bus. The bus company that offers a route between Granada and Sevilla is called ALSA. This company has buses leaving at various times throughout the day for a decent price of 19,30€ (one way) and 34,85€ (roundtrip) Book your bus ticket  at: www.Alsa.es

A second option to travel from Granada to Sevilla is by train. The train company is called Renfe. The travel time is almost the same, and you get the experience of riding on a train across the country, rather than on a large bus. Granada has so much to offer. The probably most popular thing to do would be Botellón. Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Botellón is basically drinking in the plaza on Calle Aribal. Usually you will find that people like to drink until about 1am before they hit up to a Discoteca. It is usually packed on the weekend, and it’s a great way to meet people. Only drawback: no bathroom, so be brave! If you are living near the Universidad de Granada, this isn’t too far of a walk, but those of you living near Centro or Plaza Nueva, have quite a walk; get some booze for the walk and for Botellón.

The best time to visit Granada is in the Spring and Autumn when the temperature is perfect with warm, sunny days. During July and August it can be very hot and some days the temperature reaches 40C! Granada has a dry heat which is much more bearable than the humid heat you find in Barcelona. There is very little rainfall although every few years there are spells when it rains very heavily.

WARM SUMMERS

In Granada, it is sunny almost every day from June to September with virtually no rain. July and August are very hot. There are daily highs up to 30C and nightly lows 8C. This type of weather means shirt sleeves during the day and perhaps a pull-over in the evenings.

COOL WINTERS

Granada winters consist of a mixture of beautiful clear, sunny winter days with overcast but cool days. Evenings are noticeably much colder after the sun sets. The first rains are late September or early October, can be heavy and rarely last more than a day or two. Daily highs are about 20 C and nightly lows can be near freezing. Suitable clothing would be a pullover or jacket during the day, and a warm coat in the evening. Heaters are definitely necessary inside.

When it comes to safety in Granada, the rule of thumb is to simply use your common sense and you’ll be fine. Major crimes in Granada are practically unheard of. However, as a popular tourist destination, incidents of pick-pocketing and bag-snatching in Granada are more frequent- especially in popular tourist areas like the Albaicín and Sacromonte. Chances are that nothing will happen to you, but to be sure just take a few simple precautions… trust us, having your wallet taken from your pocket can put quite a damper on your trip!

Some Safety Tips

-Keep a watchful eye on your belongings.

-Women: use purses with zippers and sling them across your chest instead of over one shoulder.

-Be particularly aware in crowded, touristy areas- unsuspecting tourists are the easiest targets.

-Don’t carry all of your valuable items- passport, money, credit cards- in one pocket.

-Carry around a copy of your passport and leave the original in a safe in your hotel.

-Be sensible- for example, don’t count your life’s savings sitting on a city bench.

Despite the warnings, don’t panic! Granada is an extremely relaxed city in which people generally feel very safe. In the highly unlikely event that something does happen and you want to report a crime, get in touch with the national police (policía nacional).
